Our Mission
To put an end to one of the leading causes of kidney failure and to significantly shorten the wait for anyone in need of a kidney transplant.
Until PKD is cured once and for all, we’re building a world where PKD solutions are understood by and available to anyone who needs them.
PKD Outreach Foundation (pkDO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to help families find solutions that are not readily accessible.
From finding altruistic donors to breakthrough medication to innovative genetic screening, there are ways to manage PKD before things progress to renal failure.
Our goal is to ensure that families with a history of PKD can take meaningful action to manage the onset of symptoms today, delay the disease’s progression for tomorrow, and eliminate it for the next generation.

pkDO UoU Pilot Program to Increase Anonymous Live Kidney Donation
pkDO will work in collaboration with Renewal in order to expand their successful process and procedures to kick-off a Pilot Program with the University of Utah Health.
Renewal.org has already proven Live Kidney Donation from anonymous donors can be increased significantly with a strong community-based approach and additional resources to assist with outreach, education and VIP services for Donors.
Renewal is responsible for over 1000 anonymous kidney donations, growing at close to 200/year which is ~50% of anonymous donations nationwide.
The entire transplant team leadership at UoU has been engaged in evaluating Renewal’s model and acknowledges that these are services that the institution should be providing.
To get this off the ground quickly, pkDO will be providing the funding for a three-year trial for dedicated staffing and resources to provide services similar to Renewal.
Once the trial proves to be successful in increasing live donor transplant, the charitable funding will be replaced by sustainable funding by UoU.
The UoU pilot will then serve as a template for other transplant centers around the country to add these services.
